Product description
This throne-like armchair is a new version of a model that CRM donated in 1904 to the "Willow Tea Rooms" in Glasgow, his hometown. A high, semi-circular back separated the entrance area from the tea room behind it. The backrest covers the seat, perfectly illustrating Mackintosh's geometric and Art Nouveau style. For Cassina, creating this chair meant combining advanced technology and the company's best carpentry skills. The latter can be seen in the precision required to assemble the pieces that create the elegant, lightweight latticed frame.
In its original configuration, the high, semicircular backrest of this solid wood throne served as a divider between the entrance and the tea room beyond, surrounding the seat in a complex series of lines and shapes, which fully reflect Mackintosh's geometric and floral style.
A work of excellent Cassina craftsmanship, made possible by the combination of excellent furniture making and state-of-the-art technology. An item of the highest craftsmanship precision, characterized by extremely complex work processes, such as manual assembly of various construction elements.
BACKREST Made of solid ash.
