Product description

This comfortable club chair was presented in 1930 at the Grand Palais in Paris as a contribution from the Deutscher Werkbund. Marcel Breuer, together with Walter Gropius and Herbert Bayer, organized this premiere of contemporary German furniture production in France. With the S 35, he managed to integrate all the functions of a cantilever chair made of tubular steel structures into a single, uninterrupted line design. The cantilever effect is thus doubled because the armrests, which flex independently of the seat, balance the oscillations of the seat frame and backrest projecting rearwards. A matching footstool is available.
