Product description
Antropus was created in the late 1940s, when Marco Zanuso was commissioned to design the sets for the Italian-language version of Thornton Wilder's play The Skin of Our Teeth, called "La Famiglia Antropus" in Italian and performed at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. The architect cooperated with Arflex in the production of an armchair fully upholstered with rubber foam; at the time, the material was considered highly innovative and was promoted for use in home furniture production due to its expressive and industrial ergonomic potential. The current version of this chair contains CFC-free polyurethane foam. This creates an oversized and comfortable seat and backrest that perfectly matches the slim, curved profile of the side panels. Cassina makes this model available in the original, iconic red fabric upholstery.
A projection armchair upholstered entirely in leather or fabric. The additional depth gives shape to a comfortable, spacious seat surrounded by sensually curved side panels.
FINISHING Polyurethane foam.
INTERNAL STRUCTURE Tubular steel frame with elastic band.
UPHOLSTERY Iconic edition with red wool upholstery also available.
