To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sancal, Isaac Piñeiro of the Nadadora design studio proposed the concept of designing four chairs, one for each decade of Sancal. Instead of four completely different chairs, Nadadora decided that the design would make even more sense if each chair had the same structure. Thus the difference lies in the back; each inspired by a key moment in the history of furniture design.
The backrest of the R20 symbolizes concepts taken from the work of Marcel Breuer and his Cesca chair. The R30 backrest is a tribute to the Scandinavian design of the 1930s, and in particular the 69 chair by Alvar Aalto. The R40 variant represents the organic design of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s and refers to the LCW chairs designed by Charles Eames. Postmodern influences from the 1970s are infused in the R70, inspired by designs such as Synthesis45 by Ettore Sottssas for Olivetti. Silla40 combines an upholstered seat and backrest with ash feet and arms. The wood is available in any color from our range of ash stains and you can choose any fabric from our entire collection.
