Product description

The famous café chair is an icon and considered the most successful mass-produced product in the world to date: it marked the beginning of the history of modern furniture. The basis was a new technique - bending of solid wood - which Michael Thonet developed and perfected in the 1850s, and for the first time serial production of furniture was possible. An ingenious distribution model was added: 36 dismantled chairs could be packed into a one-cubic-meter box, shipped around the world, and then assembled on site. Thanks to its clean, reduced aesthetic, this classic has been placed in a wide variety of environments for over 150 years. It is manufactured at our facility in Frankenberg.
