BassamFellows designed Layer Tables to work well with bright, modern sofas - like the ones they designed for Herman Miller.
Layer Tables embody their name in two ways. The former results from their design. Glass tops constitute the main surfaces, thanks to which the cross-brace structure or an optional auxiliary surface is visible through the table top. The second way is based on design intentions. BassamFellows has created a collection that can be integrated into the architectural environment. Rectangular or L-shaped side tables and coffee tables elegantly match all types of furniture without overwhelming the space.
As complementary elements, layered tables work particularly well in collaborative workspaces where communication space is important for maintaining people and ideas flow. In particular, an L-shaped coffee table serves people sitting along a corner or section of a sofa, while allowing them to approach seated colleagues without having to move around a large block table.
Layered tables do not have hard edges; all corners have a soft radius - including the corners of glass tops. Even the metal structural elements are cylindrical. These subtle accents emphasize the sensuality of the tables - a hallmark of each BassamFellows design.
BassamFellows carefully considered the amount of materials used in the Layer tables. Visually heavy materials such as stone and wood are cut thicker than standard. Visually lighter materials such as glass achieve exceptional thinness. Natural finishes celebrate the fundamental properties of each material.
