Alexander Girard described himself as "a sensible and sensible functionalist, possessed by irrational frivolity." Introduced to the Knoll catalog in 1948, the Model 108 coffee table reflects the playful spirit he brought to the often austere contemporary vocabulary.
FEATURES
Designed by Alexander Girard in 1945 for Knoll, the coffee table with asymmetrical shape reflects the mid-century aesthetic of clean lines, organic shapes and Girard's belief that "Art is art only when it is synonymous with life.
CONSTRUCTION
Table top: oak or walnut veneer. The tabletop has a 45° bevelled edge.
Legs: cold-rolled steel pipes with black powder-coated metal welds.
FINISHES
The structure is always black, the tabletop is available in the color of natural oak, ebonized oak and walnut.
