Product description

timeless design based on exceptional structural complexity, the iconic Barrel chair was created in 1937 by Frank Lloyd Wright based on an original 1904 design. Embodying the extremely high standard of MedaMade joinery, synonymous with quality and excellence, this Barrel Chair is composed of 37 parts, each of which fits into the other with extreme precision. The base and backrest of the chair are made of three pieces of solid wood, bent at different angles. Each of the three pieces is then cut into two pieces to balance the stresses created during the steam bending and drying processes. The two parts are then placed back to back and glued together. All joints are carved directly into the wood, all details are finished by hand by Cassina carpenters.
