Because her grandparents were tailors, designer Miriam Amelung knows the properties of fabrics and leather down to the smallest detail. In her elegant new DS-149 armchair, natural folds, organic ergonomics or an intense sense of lightness are therefore essential elements - just like her attachment to the material: when Miriam and Sebastian Amelung created this new de Sede sculpture, they wondered how
natural skin folds may look as if they were lying on a comfortable armchair. The result is an object free from decorative additions and special effects, but simply an armchair whose form, folds, curves and upholstery make it possible to feel like a heavenly rest on a little cloud.
DS-149 is a lounge chair that shows attitude and commitment to infinity, as well as sustainability and naturalness. Thanks to its light appearance, natural folds and clear contours, it resembles a safe place of peace, a refuge where deep breathing and letting your thoughts wander seems limitless - like the flow of fluffy clouds in a favorite place to which you return to regain your strength again and again.
Material and naturalness
DS-149, an inviting and protective armchair, is decorated with elegant folds extending over the entire surface, giving the upper material the appearance of a delicate throw. Miriam and Sebastian Amelung were inspired by organic elements that penetrate the interior of the chair and overlap it. Designed as a free-standing seating option, DS-149 has a cloudy shell look with clear, simple and natural shapes - soft and comfortable.
