Feltri, a well-known figure on many contemporary antique and collector websites, is a summary of thinking about figuration in a hybrid zone where artistry meets functionality. This is a unique piece of furniture that is characterized by great flexibility and the possibility of upholstering the mattress-like seat with a wide range of fabrics. They can be mixed and matched with six new frame color options, for a total of ten color options. Feltri was created as part of the Cassina Research Center, a place synonymous with experiment and avant-garde construction thinking. Here, Gaetano Pesce poured time and thought into the design, inventing a new, complex manufacturing process that was later patented by the company. Made entirely of dense wool felt, the elastic, wrapped back is entirely one-piece. The lower part is stiff and durable thanks to impregnation with thermosetting resin. The seat is attached to the frame with hemp ties; they also extend around the top of the chair. A comfortable quilt combined with polyester wadding is used to upholster the inner part of the chair.
