Product description
Combining a traditional outline with a light, organic form, this revolutionary interpretation of the club chair has set new standards in modern furniture design. Attached to the frame at only four points, the Armchair 41's suspension seat feels as if it's floating in the air and provides an astonishing degree of flexibility. Because wood changes over time, the armrests are formed from a single piece that is then split in half, ensuring that "Paimio" remains perfectly balanced as it ages. Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1932, armchair 41 was created for the interior of the tuberculosis sanatorium in the Finnish city of Paimio and is considered one of Aalto's masterpieces.
Frame: bent form of solid birch lamella
Seat body: Embossed birch plywood
The product is available in black or white.
