The Modernista collection - despite its roots and references to modernism - is distinguished by an ambitious attempt to integrate a figurative component, representative of the work of Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, with the linear rationality of a geometric rectangular shape. The result, from a formal innovation point of view, is an achievement. Both designers contrast with the classic composition, starting from the meticulous attention to the surface and the workmanship of the material, to emphasizing several significant features: the central button denies and at the same time remakes the bourgeois charm of the capitonné, while the base, changed by the choice of colors and the use of steel, worsens the aesthetics of industrial production. With Casa Modernista – a subtle tribute to Gregori Warchavchik, the Russian-Ukrainian architect responsible for promoting modern architecture in 1920s Brazil – the formal precision and objective sobriety of previous models are softened, opening up to relaxation and spontaneity.
The Casa Modernista the cushions lose their stiffness, the seats become deeper and cozy, and the lines become softer. Thanks to this change, the sofa becomes a space where opposing interpretations of time intertwine: productive and disconnected, social and personal, temporary and continuous. Casa Modernista completes the project with several sofas of adapted dimensions and comfort. Designed for home use, the sofas retain the basic details of the concept.
Stress-resistant polyurethane foam with different densities and polyester fiber on a wooden frame. The internal structure is made of steel and elastic tape. The base/legs are laser cut and bent from powder-coated steel sheet. The pillows are made of polyester foam, polyester fiber and memory foam. The covers of the Casa Modernista 1 collection are removable, except for the leather versions.

CASA 2
Pillows The backrests are made of polyurethane, filled with foam and polyester fiber. The seat cushions are made of polyurethane foam, polyester fiber and memory foam chips. The loose cushions consist of polyester fiber and memory foam chips.
