Product description

Gala is a modular fabric sofa.
Wooden structure padded with variable density polyurethane foam (40IP and 35IM for the seat and 40PH for the backrest) covered with welfoder combined with 200 gr/m2 velvet for the seat and 100 gr/m2 resin for the backrest . Anchorage between the backrest and the seat is provided by painted metal brackets.
Black ABS legs (height 4 cm).
Backrest cushions are made of polyurethane foam with variable density (35IM - 25IM) covered with velfoder in combination with velvet weighing 150 gr/m2.
Cristina Celestino designs a new Gala seating system for Saba, thus establishing cooperation with the company. The project is a response to the desire to explore the sofa as a place and not just as a functional product, to the desire to dematerialize the very concept of traditional life and create a sofa with a strong iconographic element.
With a subtle reference to the retro-future atmosphere of sofas that prevailed in 1970s, the new collection explores the flexibility of an upholstered object with a genderless, sculptural and refined volume that lends itself to the interpretation of different interior visions, from residential to hospitality contexts. The central frame is a vertical element that draws pleated curves, ready to accommodate, both at the front and at the back, a seat-pouffe element of various depths. Many possible configurations give life to a "hybrid" and flexible sofa that can be interacted with.
In the collective utopian imagination, the name Gala is associated with the concept of elegance and sophistication, but Gala is also an ornament, a decoration created with a ruffled textile tape . Gala is also one of the Star Wars planets and an indirect tribute to the world of stars, optimism and avant-garde that characterized this era.
