Every day, at home or in the office, we have contact with necessary items, a wealth of products that we cannot do without, that come into contact with us and interact with our body.
These include tables and tables, chairs, whose main requirements are durability and ergonomic shape.
Then there are decorative objects: not so closely related to our physical being, they stimulate emotions and sensations and we choose them based on elective affinity.
Over the years, Alias has focused more on products of the first type, now with its new collection it explores the world of the ephemeral, the world of decorative objects, and does it through a poetic approach that is related to something in the company's DNA: experimenting with materials.
During the 2018 edition of the Furniture Show Alias presents Out of Scale, a collection of objects born from the long research conducted by Mario Trimarchi by crossing the boundaries between nature and architecture, sculpture and design.
Under Trimarchi's pen, enigmatic architectural shapes appear, becoming dreamlike reefs, petrified forests and shady arbors. Alias gives concrete form to his sketches by examining materials and production techniques.
“These are objects made from the materials of architecture and hope to last as long as the architectural work. These are houses not in the shape of houses, which create a short circuit between space and design, between houses and things.
These are unscaled objects, perhaps even without scale, and therefore mysterious.
With their presence and their shadows they seem put down roots, mark territory, push other objects aside, talk to each other all night long.
These are objects made of concrete, wood, aluminum and bronze, milled, molded, pressure cast, and then refined, polished and finished with the precise hands of precise craftsmen.
They will contain oranges, bananas, grapes and cherries, or nothing at all. Sometimes they will stand still, motionless and empty, expressing a desire and need to stop and consider the wonder of geometry.
One may want to buy them as a first step in home furnishing and then slowly build their home around them.” – Mario Trimarchi
