collection of contemporary vases that preserves and interprets the quintessence of Venetian heritage. Sestiere perpetuates traditional glass processing and creatively reinterprets it, paying a living tribute to Venice.
The vase is designed as a blown glass ball, which is almost tamed by a net of strings. Each string, or "morisa" in the Murano tradition, is applied by hand to the outside of the vase, giving it a pleasantly imperfect effect. Morise are decorated with "rigadin", the typical striped motif of the lagoon.
Vase and string, two very different languages of glass, coexist harmoniously, creating an unprecedented partnership between form, function and craftsmanship. Each vase becomes a unique piece, a visible and tangible expression of handcrafted craftsmanship.
