Product description

Broken Mirror is a mirror born from Gufram's meeting with the New York studio Snarkitecture. The reflecting surface is surrounded by a frame of soft polyurethane - a direct reference to the Gufram material in the full sense of the word; this creates an alienating optical effect, as if the room was opening up to the outside world or another environment. The polyurethane mirror frame is entirely hand-hewn; for this reason, each copy of the Broken Mirror is slightly different from the next, making it a unique item.
DID YOU KNOW
1. This is the first Gufram mirror.
2. It's a soft mirror.
3. The polyurethane frame creates a repellent optical effect and brings another dimension to life.
4. This is the first Snarkitecture project for an Italian company.
5. The concept of a "soft" wall refers to the imagination of Piero Gilardi and his soft porphyry.
6. It is produced in three colors: gray, black and white.
7. Black and White are limited editions of 77 pieces each. Gufram, the Italian design brand that always stands out for its radical and revolutionary approach, continues its collaboration with the famous New York practice Snarkitecture: starting with the Broken Mirror, the first-ever mirror produced by Gufram, the Broken series is enriched with the new Broken Square mirror and the new Broken bench.
The Broken series focuses on the development of a contemporary, radical idea based on the versatility of polyurethane, a material made famous by Gufram through his various ready-made designs.
Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham, creators of Snarkitecture, ironically played with the concept of ambiguity, based on the "soft/not soft" concept, using polyurethane to imitate concrete. To obtain the texture of a concrete wall, Gufram's special patented paint, Guflac®, is applied entirely by hand, which allows the polyurethane to remain flexible and subject it to unique aesthetic experiments.
The pureurethane used in the collection is refined entirely by hand by Gufram craftsmen, so each item is slightly different and therefore unique, as well as entirely made in Italy.
Between design object and works of art, The Broken series products are available in black or white - in a limited edition of 77 pieces each – or gray.
