Onda is an outdoor lounge set consisting of a 2-seater sofa, armchairs and a coffee table. The structure is made of aluminum and the seat upholstery is made of Sunbrella fabric. Designed for outdoor furniture, the Pininfarina design team was inspired by the dynamism, elegance and purity of ocean waves, the empty space created when a wave breaks, resulting in a hollow or tubular wave (Onda in Italian). The heart of the collection is the structure, i.e. the aluminum band supporting the pillows, which becomes an iconic element of the entire Collection. Characterized by smooth lines - like a wave - the armband, apart from being an aesthetic element, also becomes a functional element, a rigid armrest on which objects can be rested. The choice of materials results from Pininfarina 360° design experience: aluminum - from the automotive sector - for the structure, fabrics - used in yachts due to their durability - for the cushions. The collection consists of a patio section and an outdoor coffee table that offers consumers many options. “We looked to the magic of nature to give life to Onda, which is distinctive yet can be integrated into a variety of environments. Technology and know-how from different sectors make it truly unique," confirms Paolo Pininfarina, President of Pininfarina.
Inspired by the structure of the automotive sector, emphasizing and exposing the internal, durable aluminum structure provides the user with a sense of security and also creates a distinctive visual aesthetic.
