Product description
Raphia is the result of a research project on the use of materials and the possibility of using them as furniture. It is a perfect combination of modernity and tradition, technology and craftsmanship. An oxymoron that brings together two production spirits in Italy: the metal industry and small, tradition-respecting producers of rattan and wicker products. The aim of the project is to ensure some continuity of the tradition of rattan crafts, which dates back to the beginning of the last century, when schools and culture related to this material flourished in areas specializing in this craft. Currently, there are few companies that cultivate the know-how of this industry, where manual skills and craftsmanship combine to ensure the uniqueness of each work. Raphia embodies this history and tradition in a contemporary context thanks to the harmonious balance between two materials: the metal structure forms the base on which wicker and rattan are woven to create the seating area.
MATERIALS AND FINISHES
Structure: embossed, painted metal.
Seat and backrest: natural rattan or painted fumè wicker.
