After the great success of Borea, Piero Lissoni and B&B Italia continue research and sustainability in the outdoor sector with the creation of Nooch, a modular seating system whose name is inspired by the tropical botanical garden of Nong Nooch in Thailand. Its key feature is its tubular construction using recycled aluminum, a lightweight and strong material that is fully recyclable. A choice inspired by simplicity, which refers to elementary tubular structures and refines them with a design that pays attention to every detail. The intersection of structural elements is a characteristic feature of this collection, with a particular arc achieved by the way the aluminum bends. Design and engineering detail that combines functionality and beauty. Nooch is a system that allows you to create endless combinations of two basic modules: rectangular and square. Both can be equipped with backrests and armrests and have an aluminum top with slats on which the pillows rest. The modules can be placed as free-standing units or permanently connected together using special locking connectors, creating a variety of configurations. A number of additional upper sections that can be inserted between the elements provide even greater compositional freedom. The liners have been designed with sustainability in mind. They use reclaimed materials that can be completely separated and consist of two layers of polyurethane of different density and hardness: one layer made of recycled polyurethane from production waste and one made of virgin bio-based polyurethane, both wrapped in an outer shell of recycled PET. The system is completed by a small circular service piece that inserts between the cushions to provide additional support and a special backrest/armrest cushion that inserts between the elements to create inverted and reversible seats.
