Product description

Originally, the Nest paper basket was designed for Furnishing Utopia: Hands to Work, the third in a series of exhibitions exploring the Shaker design legacy. The exhibition was devoted to the topic of housework and the objects we associate with it.
Cork waste was a reflection of the classic paper container, but it was also intended for general use at home as racks for magazines or for various types of everyday items. The crumpled appearance is due to the fact that the designer wanted the product to be packed flat when shipped, which ultimately created one of the most important features of this item. To better control the shape of the basket, rings are placed at the top and bottom, giving the basket a perfectly round shape and, when viewed from the side, with more delicate lines.
Double layer of thin, hand-sewn cork fabric, as well as steam-bent wooden handles , determine the overall quality of the item and the richness of details. Additionally, they emphasize its two main functions: to wear and to fold.
"One of the activities I do most often is cleaning my apartment by putting things back in their proper place - laundry, dishes, waste for recycling, etc. Having the right tools, such as a dedicated paper bin in the office, makes this work much easier more pleasant. I was attracted to cork fabric because of its natural look and properties. The handle refers to Shaker buckets and baskets.” Hallgeir Holmsvedt
