Embody started by recognizing a previously unsolved problem: the lack of physical harmony between people and their technology. Spending too much time interacting with various devices and only moving our fingers can make us feel stiff and tired because our bodies are designed to move. With Embody, designers Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber set out to solve this problem.
From the moment you sit down, you'll feel the pixelated support of Embody - the feeling of floating on air while being perfectly balanced. Thanks to the dynamic pixel matrix, the Embody seat and backrest surfaces automatically adapt to the micro-movements of your body, evenly distributing your weight while sitting. This relieves pressure and encourages movement, which is key to maintaining healthy circulation and focus.
The Embody back is designed like a human, with a central spine and flexible ribs. Backfit adjustment allows you to adjust the backrest according to the natural curve of your spine, resulting in a neutral, balanced posture. Once the chair is adjusted to you, the backrest will adapt to your movement, automatically adapting to your changing position. Whether you lean forward or lean back, the support remains constant.
The Embody Chair is made up of four different layers of support - each with its own set of material properties and each created by a different manufacturing process, all working together and they adapt to your needs with a shape so faithful that they even fit in your pockets. These layers are designed with airflow in mind, keeping you cool and comfortable while sitting.
Form doesn't just follow function with Embody. The function is fully displayed. Each part of the chair is designed to serve a specific, health-beneficial purpose. Embody technology is not hidden - it is part of the aesthetic.
