Brick of Light is a hardwired fixture with a single 5m neoprene cable, designed for installation in exposed brick walls or other structural materials.

Protection class: IP65 Since ancient times, clay brick has accompanied the history of architecture, almost becoming identified with it. Even today it is one of the most widely used materials due to its high and diverse properties in terms of statics, insulation, durability and shape, texture, chromatic richness. Especially nowadays, when biocompatibility and environmental sustainability along with environmental soundproofing requirements have become essential, brick stands out as one of the materials closest to the earth.
In recent times, glass has gained importance as a concrete contribution to solving the relationship between void and fullness, between light and shadow. As technology develops to take advantage of these amazing properties, glass is becoming an increasingly leading actor on the architectural scene: an inclusive construction material, thanks to its processing, coatings and connections. The Brick of Light project was born from the combination of these two elements, the material of glass and the shape of the brick: research and, in a sense, provocation. SIMES expresses its own interpretation by designing an element that has accompanied humanity in its constructive development for the last 5,000 years. Their main features have remained unchanged to this day. Brick of Light makes light become a structural element and through its shape the brick acquires its own materiality, defining and increasing the value of architectural bodies.
The Brick of Light camouflages itself with the texture of a brick not only by adopting the form and dimensions of a brick, but also by adopting the same methods of operation, assembly and installation thanks to their strength properties and ease of management. The restrained and basic form of the archetype allows for perfect integration with walls. It can be endlessly changed and speaks to the rhythm of the surface and the appropriate lighting needs designed to integrate with exposed brick surfaces such as: external and internal flush with the walls, recessed or projecting on a flat wall or curved wall concave or convex in the center or at the edge insulated or arranged at intervals or in a continuous line free or as planned. Its compact geometry and the ability to adapt to and identify with the wall itself, together with the solid glass, make it efficient in terms of maintenance, impermanence over time and resistance to vandalism.
