Balancing the solidity of solid wood with the soft lines of metal, the Bolacha lamp from Porto-based HMD Interiors is characterized by a cookie-shaped lampshade and an anodized gold finish.
Made of basswood and aluminum, the lamp uses touch-activated LED technology offering five different light intensities. Bolacha is also completely wireless and can be charged via a USB C cable, available in a single or multi-piece version that can charge up to five lamps at the same time.
“I wanted to create light out of wood,” confirms owner and designer Mónica Hedderich about inspiration for a lamp. “The main aspect has always been wood, so I imagined this 'bolacha' - Portuguese for cookie - in solid wood. From that point on, the structure began to emerge as a way to make it the star of the piece.”
