The FLOATING KARST table lamp is made of KARST STONE from the Dolomites, partially covered with native lichen and the natural patina of that time, preserved in EXTRACLAR RESIN resembling the water in which these stones lay immersed. The cross-sectional planes reveal amazing shapes and cavities created by the water. The LED system provides lighting. In geology, "substratum" is the consolidated rock on the surface of the Earth or other terrestrial planets. The BEDROCK collection aims to capture the complex relief of some Italian lands, such as the Dolomites, the karst regions or the Sienese Hills, which are rich in forms and are the result of a successful and harmonious combination of structural shapes and climatic conditions.
This unique and dynamic landscape is subject to continuous geomorphological evolution, starting from the Miocene period, when rock layers began to emerge from the sea in which they were sedimented. Alcarol extracted blocks of local stone from various Italian quarries, often discarded fragments due to the presence of an irregular outer shell, giving them new functionality and a new look.
