magma one low: Contrast is the key feature of the magma one low table lamp. From the angular and tall base of thick lava-glazed ceramics, to the smooth, rounded, hand-blown glass sphere that gently glows. One rough with an earthy texture; the second one is smooth with a matte shine. Opposites really do attract. Magma is all about contrast. Smooth versus rough. Light versus darkness. Diagonal lines against a background of soft curves. Like its namesake, the Magma series of table lamps appear to have emerged from deep within the Earth's center, topped with a light accent of light. French designer Ferréol Babin brings his distinctive, practical approach to a sculptural series of table lamps. The ceramic base of each magma lamp is generously coated with an oily lava glaze, and each element reacts differently during the firing process. The result is a textured piece of raw earth, strong and stable. The hand-blown glass form delicately perched on top gives the impression that it is almost floating in the air. Warm lighting highlights the curved form of the glass and provides a visual counterpoint to the angular base below. Available in high or low versions, with a vertical or horizontal oblong glass sphere, the magma series expresses a simple carving quality. Personalize your table companion with the option of a blue, white or black ceramic base, lava glazed, or a hand-blown glass ball in frosted white or smoked glass. Whichever option you choose, the magma series is the centerpiece of the composition, day or night.
