Product description
The new Catodo lamp, the result of an elegant combination of volume and materials, refers to the line of the vase of the same name. The conical base made of matt or glossy lacquered polyurethane, decorated with two discs of dark tinted glass, houses a luminous ball made of smoked glass or milky white glass. Designer and artist Elena Salmistraro draws inspiration from the historical period from the 1940s to the 1960s. In those years, the world was a victim of the Cold War and feared an inevitable nuclear catastrophe, but despite the terrifying climate, society found the strength to imagine a better future.
Bold and graphic shapes referring to the fear of the atom returned in the artistic expression of the time as a symbol of common will changing the fate of people and overcoming the overwhelming sense of fear.
The New Atomic Age collection by Elena Salmistraro reflects these neo-tribal and post-atomic symbols through precious inlays and innovative resin sculptures on marble surfaces.
