Designed between 1963 and 1965, 275 was conceived as a desk lamp. Please note that it is not intended as an operating lamp, but rather to solve lighting problems on a worktable placed in an environment that is not necessarily an office. This is where the large methacrylate dome supported by a curved arm comes from, but above all, the unpredictable kinematic mechanism, bordering on static. In fact, from the initial folded position, in which the diffuser is placed on a circular base of virtually the same diameter, one turn brings it to an eccentric position. On the one hand, the circumference of the base remains, on the other, the head: the effect is especially pronounced when the structure is painted black, thus creating on the table one black circle and one white, illuminated circle.
Today the 275 "sees the light" again , represented in a philological way, also thanks to cooperation with the heirs of Zanuso. Iconic in its form, it can be used not only at desks, but generally on tables of any size, and its primary role is to illuminate part of the room.
Its message is identical to that of the original, but charged with an additional ingredient: memory and nostalgia , for a unique character on the world design stage.
