The spectacular Saffo lamp was designed in 1966 by Italian architect, sculptor and designer Angelo Mangiarotti and has been a desirable vintage item ever since. The extraordinary design speaks to his sculptural expertise and showcases his unique approach to combining shapes and materials.
Saffo is made of blown glass and emits a soft light that highlights the many material properties of the glass.
The white glass on the underside elegantly conceals a light source, and as the mushroom shape begins to form, the white glass merges into clear and gives way to light. The sculptural features of the Saffo lamp make it a spectacular design object whether it is turned on or off.
