Product description
The essence of Bauhaus teaching was based on the famous apprenticeship of Walter Gropius and Josef Albers, a basic training lasting about one year during which students could aimlessly experiment with color, form and material. Josef Albers (1888-1976) was noticed at an early age for his artistic talent, which is why Walter Gropius appointed him junior master before his apprentice exam. From the surface to outer space - this experimental approach later became one of the main tasks of Joseph Albers' Bauhaus introductory course.
The concentric circles of the Saturn lamp from 1926 are based on this initial teaching. Incidentally, one of his most famous students was Ati Gropius, the daughter of Walter Gropius, who constructively accompanied Tecta's work for decades. To this day, the three-dimensional sculpture of the SATURN lamp is created in Lauenförde from a flat, two-dimensional steel sheet using the laser cutting method - L61, still characteristically free of offcuts.
