Bridge is a table lamp, a sculptural representation of the apparent simplicity that often lurks in good design. The concept is based on a natural, instinctive gesture, suggesting an almost ancient game: a hand folding a piece of paper and transforming it into a three-dimensional object. Designed by Francesco Meda, the Bridge consists of a single sheet of steel, cut by a laser and assembled without joints to create a luminous bridge: a central body on which the diffuser can be attached, resting on four side points. The simplicity of the concept is also visible in the user interface: the lamp turns on and off with a hand movement, without requiring direct physical contact. Originally self-produced in 2014 in a slightly different version to that included in the Foscarini catalogue, Bridge is part of the permanent collection of the Triennale Milano Design Museum – an illustration of the company's ongoing commitment to making contemporary design research accessible to a wider audience. Available in two sizes and two materials and colors - polished brass with a transparent coating and dark red, matte steel - Bridge spreads even, elegant light on surfaces: bedside tables, desks or tables.
