An icon of the history of modern lighting from the early 1920s: on the occasion of Midgard's 100th anniversary, the legendary TYPE 113 "Peitschenleuchte" (whip) returns to the Midgard product catalog. The Hamburg manufacturer will initially launch a special version containing original E27 rotary switch sockets made of Bakelite (NOS - New Old Stock from the 1930s), which will be available in a limited edition of 100 pieces. Special highlight: Thonet, a furniture manufacturer known for its long tradition and Bauhaus-era tubular steel construction, was brought in as a collaboration partner and produced the lamp's distinctive tubular steel whip-shaped arm for this limited edition.
All components have been carefully examined and reconstructed according to the original, regulated design. In terms of materials and production methods, the lamps are made in exactly the same way as they were in the 1920s. The metal shine of the elements is achieved by nickel plating: the screws are turned and knurled, and the insulator in the lamp shade is made of glazed porcelain. It is this combination that gives the limited edition its exceptional technical and visual elegance. After the limited edition, a standard TYP 113 variant is planned to be released.
