Material: solid walnut, solid brass and natural stone Rochester Falls is one of the most spectacular places on the island of Mauritius. The relatively rapid cooling of an ancient, dense lava flow resulted in the formation of these distinctive hexagonal and polygonal column-like basalt rocks along which the Savanne River still flows.
The design of the items in this collection is complex and elegant, mimicking the columnar basalts of Rochester Falls through a wooden topography -brass, as if all the pieces came from a single block of wood crystallized into many hexagonal columns.
The cabinets are composed of over 3,000 pieces of hexagonal columns hand-carved from solid wenge or walnut wood, all reassembled and attached individually, by hand. The wooden interior structure is lined with premium Italian leather, with a gold and bronze finish and mirrored sheets with a gold finish. All metal parts are polished to form hexagonal columns of solid brass.
