Product description

The ball is made of ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) plastic, which is cast in a vacuum mold. This is an extremely difficult process because of the importance of evenly distributing the weight. The ball is suspended by a single steel cable, so the slightest imbalance would cause the dome to tilt. Therefore, during the forming process, we pay great attention to the thickness of the materials.

Bart Lens needed a large lamp that would create an enveloping ball of light above the conference table in his office, and so he began his search. After a long and fruitless search, he finally decided to design his own mega-light with a dome "sphere".
The result has been compared to the dome of the "Calimero", a giant bell, a crescent…. Everyone seems to have a different name for it.
