DUNE is a sculptural lamp whose shape is intriguingly amorphous. Designed by Madrid-based Mayice Studio, Dune is a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass surrounding a wood veneer diffuser with a seed pod-like opening on one side. The glass is hand-blown by Eduardo Garuti, an accomplished craftsman. Thanks to his mastery and great dexterity, Garuti is able to bring out the natural beauty of glass.
DUNE's characteristic shape consists of two symmetrical tips and an irregular, bulb-shaped center. A wood veneer diffuser houses the lamp's dimmable LED light source, and the downward light from the seed pod-like opening is softened by the glass. Each DUNE lamp is unique: the beauty in the imperfections of hand-blown glass combined with the almost wabi-sabi quality makes DUNE resemble a work of art. Indeed, each lamp is signed by the artisan Eduardo Garuti.
