Argyle is a hanging lamp made of blown glass. Rakumba announces a new collaboration with designer Luca Nichetto and together they present Argyle, an extraordinary lighting concept whose intricate structure of nested diamonds exudes a complex and captivating beauty. Argyle is rich in narrative references and masterfully combines Rakumba's technical knowledge and passion for contemporary lighting design with Nichetto Studio's distinctive DNA. Nichetto draws on the ancient Venetian practice of Murano glassblowing, present in his personal and design history, and combines it with incredible success with Rakumba's legacy and ability to develop highly technical lighting.
Australia is famous for rare colored diamonds found in remote mines Argyle. Taking a cue from this while also referencing overlapping patterns, Rakumba's new series of lamps builds a diamond structure nested in layers of hand-blown glass. In the center is a perfectly illuminated diamond light source surrounded by a second glass diamond, then the graceful curve of the hourglass and a final layer of glass that delicately creates a softened outer diamond. The outer diamond is removable to create a customizable exterior silhouette, which is especially fascinating when the lights are used in larger numbers.
As a pendant lamp, Argyle looks like a precious gem, impeccable in its minimalism and symmetry. Arranged and nested in larger multiples, the Argyle narrative evolves like an illuminated, shimmering curtain, evoking the classic "Argyle" textile weave in a linguistic case. Argyle is the perfect backdrop for a contract or commercial hall, a beautiful room divider or the centerpiece of a grand entrance.
Argyle, also presented as a floor or table lamp, becomes a luminous totem on which a maximum of eight diamonds high can be designed. Argyle's delicately complex structure is enhanced with optional cool, warm, neutral and clear shades.
