"In 2013, we created Stellar Works as a way to combine the ideas of: East and West, heritage and modernity, crafts and industry - bringing the best of the past into the light of the present. The aim was to inspire the revival of Asian aesthetics , taking the forms, styles and themes that have characterized Japanese design over the centuries and filtering it through the prism of European tradition to create something new and timeless.

I believe that this combination of cultures is what sets us apart both in terms of the nature of our creativity and the strength of our business today. From the outset, Stellar Works has benefited from the strategy and dynamism of Japanese operations management, the high-class craftsmanship of French furniture and the technical expertise of our Shanghai manufacturing team.

Our role as a conservator of the past goes beyond our production methods, the most obvious example being our vintag Li no, which keep the iconic designs of 20th-century great masters such as Vilhelm Wolhert and Carlo Forcolini in production, with a few material updates to match the present day. But also the Stellar Works corporate collections could not exist without the aesthetic stories to which they pay tribute. Take a look at our contemporary furniture collections and you'll see glimpses of design movements from across the 20th century - a touch of Bauhaus functionality or the refined simplicity of mid-century Scandinavian style - often seamlessly blended into the classic forms and patterns of the Asian creative tradition.

Such projects and designers are the creative heart of our company. Without exception, they have an instinctive understanding of the Stellar Works mission and a talent for drawing and combining creative inspiration and craft techniques from many places and eras. It would be too easy to obtain a product that did not work - a clash of cultures or a conceptual mismatch - but the designers of Stellar Works have the gift of harmony: they create furniture that is both an extension of an existing tradition and an expression of a new one.

We chose this path between old and new, because I believe that good design is timeless design. A particular style of furniture may be fashionable for a while, but if it looks tired after a decade, it's not good design - it's a passing trend. Stellar Works is designed to be timeless. I would like to think that 100 years from now our creations will still be as contemporary and resonant as they are today and furthermore that Stellar Works will continue to produce high-quality furniture that is inspired by Asian inspiration, intercultural in design and international in its scope.
