Inspired by OTQ

At the heart of the Mediterranean is an island where one of the most consolidated realities in woodworking is rooted in. It is the island of Sardinia, a thousand-year-old land of know-how and well-established commitment to production, where three generations of craftsmen from "Sud Legno" have handed over carpentry from father to son in a lasting relationship of passion and quality, with consolidated regional and national clients (FortVillage, Hotel Giorico Carlos V) and a foreign business unit in the United States that focuses on the real estate market.

During this period, OTQ was born, an innovative idea that combines the business experience of over three decades with the design ambitions of the young designer Matteo Congiu , the last link in the generation chain of the great Sud Legno family. Growing up in the family business, Matteo combined his high school education with knowledge of the stages of wood production from the outset while studying design at the IED in Milan. During this time, he focused on the relationship between craft technique and new technologies. He spent three years of intensive and in-depth study leading to Masters in Digital Fabrication in Milan, where he won one of 12 fellowships awarded through the collaboration of IED Milano and Samsung Italia. This opened up new development opportunities for the young designer, represented by business meetings and highly innovative professional exchanges. This turning point will lead to the creation - first from a theoretical point of view and then a real business plan - of the OTQ project, which after its first presentation at Salone del Mobile 2015 became a real idea for a cork based business and its application in the design sector.

Now, after an intensive period dedicated to perfecting the brand and the scientific nature of OTQ, the product has been introduced to the international market for the first time at the Cologne fair. A forward-looking challenge that preserves the identity traits and the culture of innovation.
