Vitrealspecchi - a short history of the company

Vitrealspecchi was founded in 1939 by a family with extensive experience in the processing of industrial glass, operating in this field since the beginning of the 20th century. When it was decided to focus on mirrors (hence the company's real name), the company was one of the first in Italy to install an automated production line for large-format flat glass mirrors. Later, in the mid-1960s, Vitrealspecchi began to focus on the ancient technique of glass processing. This led to the patenting of the first industrial-scale frosting and etching process for float glass, and started the Madras® brand.

Today Vitrealspecchi is an internationally recognized manufacturer. And not only because of its exclusive place in the history of etched frosted glass. This is mainly due to the enormous advances in practice that have made it possible to offer special, exclusive surfaces and product types for a wide range of applications, from construction to doors and windows to furniture.

Responsibility for chemical processes and the environment
Glass is chemically etched with substances that can be considered harmful if not handled properly. To protect the environment, in the past, both Italian and European law have adopted strict directives according to which the emissions of waste water and gases resulting from these chemical processes are measured and assessed.

Thanks to a 50-year-old experience in this field and close cooperation with analytical and research institutions, Vitrealspecchi stands for unique know-how in the handling and treatment of liquid and gaseous residues and has state-of-the-art systems for special cleaning. Therefore, the company fully complies with all European environmental legislation.
