INSPIRED BY PIANCA

PIANCA is an important and well-known Italian industrial reality in the field of home systems and accessories, characterized by an elegant and simple taste, known for its ability to synthesize, constant innovation and consistency with history and identity. Pianca was founded in 1954 in Gaiarine, Treviso. Currently, it has 75,000 sq m. Production sites, 250 employees, 1,000 stores in Italy and 500 worldwide in over 50 different countries. Participating in Salone del Mobile from the first edition, she has always been at the forefront of her industry. 60 years of quality. Spreading the value of beauty, coziness and utility: this is the idea accompanying the entire history of Pianca, a family of entrepreneurs for two generations, from 1946 to the present day.

The plot

that the industrial phenomenon of Pianca is unique is its amazing centuries-old past. A study commissioned to establish the origins of the name Pianca led to a sensational discovery. It seems that Michele D'Artico, a resident of Serravalle (today Vittorio Veneto), changed his name to D'Artico Da Pianca, taking the name of a small stream flowing into the Menschio River, on which he built a family mill carpentry workshop at the end of the 16th century. In future generations, the surname first changed to Da Pianca and then to today's Pianca. In this family, which has grown, divided and moved over the years, their work has not changed: craftsmanship and passion for wood. In the 1950s, Enrico Pianca managed to shift this artisanal culture towards an industrial area. His son Aldo took his place in the late 1980s. It's nice to think about how this ancient history of family, business and work will unfold in the future.

Vision of sustainable development

We are not saying that we can save the environment, but we are doing your part. Pianca was the first furniture company in Europe to introduce water-based paints in place of solvent-based paints. Even today, considering the high industrial costs, it is one of the few companies in Italy that uses this particular type of painting. This process is both healthier and less polluting and in fact guarantees a total reduction in pollutant emissions in our customers' homes during the normal life cycle of our furniture. Pianca is also almost energy self-sufficient thanks to the photovoltaic system on the roof of its production facility. To give you an idea, the clean energy produced could power 270 families of four for a year, which is the equivalent of a neighborhood or a small town. To meet the ecological, production and quality requirements, Pianca has developed a new automated packaging system made of 100% recyclable cardboard, allowing the definitive elimination of polystyrene and plastics in furniture packaging. The system attracted a lot of technological interest, prompting the management of the American logistics giant Amazon to ask us in 2014 if they could personally see a working machine in order to be able to use it in their plants. There is much more to say, for example B. our commitment to use 100% wood from certified sustainably managed forests or the fact that our winter heating is powered by our production waste (zero emissions and saving fossil fuels). But what counts and what we are proud of is that we also do our part in something as important and complex as protecting the environment we live in.

Made in Italy quality

Based on the vocation and competitiveness of our region, in Pianka we contributed to the creation of the first industrial furniture district in Italy. All our furniture is made in the area surrounding our headquarters in Gaiarine near Treviso and complies with EU production standards. From here, we export the elegance and luxury of Italian products all over the world. We are passionate about cultivating the excellence of our materials and processes

is the best possible way to ensure customer loyalty. We use recycled wood panels finished with oak and walnut veneer from FSC certified forests. We choose new non-toxic water-based paints and high-quality soft-close shock absorbers. We use innovative processes that ensure an even finish and achieve the effect of one piece. All these details together make the difference and allow us to become proud supporting members of CATAS, Italy's largest institute of research and improvement of wood for furniture.

Design

We believe in the only true mission of design industrial, technical and aesthetic concept of products that can improve human life. That is why we decided to reward the ideas of young talents, among whom you can find the great names of tomorrow. Our design team combines creativity and advanced production technology, creating modern, logical and elegant furniture systems that we are able to successfully present on the market at a very competitive price. Only in this way, the Pianca brand, known to our customers as a unique brand, always remains true to itself, the epitome of contemporary elegance. Our company is primarily made up of people. Our greatest asset is their enormous value, wealth of knowledge and skills, which only time and experience can bring. Behind the choice of wood is Marta's taste, Mirco's knowledge guarantees the perfection of varnishes, Giuseppe's careful eye ensures strict quality control. This has always been the case at Pianca. When the carpentry shop seemed a little small, we replaced our chisels with cutting-edge technology and continued to invest in our people. This is evident in the feelings of our employees who remain loyal to us for life. That's why we make designs but still use our hands and still consider ourselves artisans and women. Our oak lumber finishes perfectly illustrate the combination of high technical performance and handcrafted workmanship. All this is a craft intelligence.

Sustainable development

We work with respect for people and the environment at every stage of production, because we believe that work is a means of development and improvement. Our wood comes from certified forests with controlled sourcing against deforestation and our panels do not contain toxic adhesives. We were the first to use water-based gloss paints instead of polyurethane paints - still an absolute plus for Pianca - both for the health of our employees and reducing household pollution. Thanks to the use of photovoltaic solar panels, our factories are 60% self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption. Waste is used to generate energy to heat furnaces and our packaging systems are 100% recyclable. We have also created a bike path in collaboration with Gaiarine City Council to promote respect for our local community and support members of Doctors Without Borders.

Innovation

Be new has always been our golden rule and we have never lacked the courage in our convictions. We were the first to believe in a democratic project for everyone. We were the first in our market segment to automate production. We were the first to reorganize the workflow with a lean manufacturing and just-in-time service that is made-to-order, adaptable and flexible, moving from furniture pieces to furniture systems. And once again, we were the first in Europe to use solvent-free glossy varnishes, we were one of the first to try to use stone as a furniture cover, we were the first to invent a protective packaging with a honeycomb structure that provides greater resistance to shocks and impacts, and as one of the first, they introduced a depreciation system to all our drawers. Every day we continue our path of innovation in the technology we use and in our stylistic choices, discovering new trends without falling into fleeting fashions, always remaining true to the contemporary elegance that you, the consumer, recognize in Pianca.
